Samigue Eman May Play for San Miguel Beermen Soon

After going to the United States to examine his knee injury, giant Samigue Eman was cleared by American physician Steve Lombardo as fit to play. He's continuously taking a series of therapy sessions to strenthen his knee. There's no need for surgery unlike what happened to Danny Ildefonso.

This is a great news for San Miguel Beermen fans who are hoping to see the towering Samigue Eman to man the shaded lane this coming conference. He is considered as a project by coach Siot Tangquincen because of this height. After 3 years since his acquisition, they will decide if he is worth all the attention.

Do you think Samigue Eman will become the San Miguel Beermen's feared center in the future?

This No. 2 overall pick in last year’s Draft has yet to prove anything in the Philippine Basketball Association after he was sidelined at once by injury.

But with American physician Steve Lombardo giving him a clean bill of health, Eman Samigue may finally suit up for Magnolia in the coming Philippine Cup of the league’s 34th basketball Season.

Lombardo, a resident doctor of the Kerlan Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles, California , said Eman sustained only “bruised bones,” and that he is fit already to play for Magnolia.

Lombardo, who has had cage legends Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson among his clients, also said Eman needs only a series of therapy to strengthen his knees, and that he doesn’t need any surgery anymore.

The 6-foot-8 Eman, who was second to overall pick Joe Devance in last year’s rookie draft, has undergone 16 sessions already, and that he would be ready to return home on Sept. 23, according to Magnolia coach Siot Tanquincen.

Eman was used sparingly in 16 of the team’s 20 basketball games because of his recurring knee injury. He played only once in the Fiesta Conference before he was sent to California for treatment.

“We’re glad with the diagnosis on Eman. He can come home early to join us in basketball practice,” said Tanquincen.

The same couldn’t be said of two-time MVP winner Danny Ildefonso who was operated on both ankles in the same clinic. Tanquincen said ldefonso can rejoin them the earliest by January.

Last Thursday, Magnolia has formally signed up Mick Pennisi in what was seen as a precautionary measure for Magnolia to avoid vacuum in its basketball frontline.

The Beverage Masters also acquired Jay Washington through trades.
